Civil dispute handling (partial):

1.Real Estate Contract Retrial (Guangdong High Court): Represented a Shenzhen-based technology company in a commodity housing reservation contract dispute against a Guangdong industrial investment corporation during the retrial phase. Successfully secured a reversal of judgment from the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province, recovering RMB 12 million in economic losses for the client.
2.Real Estate Arbitration: Represented client L against Guangzhou XX Real Estate Co., Ltd. in a commodity housing purchase contract dispute. Obtained a favorable arbitration award ruling that the developer committed a fundamental breach of contract, resulting in the return of over RMB 56 million in purchase payments and compensation for economic losses.
3.Negotiable Instruments & Sales Disputes: Successfully represented Shanghai XX Materials Co., Ltd. in a series of negotiable instrument (bills) and sales contract disputes against Guangzhou XX Real Estate Co., Ltd., recovering over RMB 10 million in economic losses for the client.
4.Construction Contract Appeal & Retrial: Represented Shaoguan XX Real Estate Company in a series of contract disputes against Chongqing XX Construction Engineering Company involving a subject matter of approximately RMB 150 million. The contractor refused to cooperate with the project acceptance inspection. The court of first instance initially dismissed the lawsuit, ruling that the inspection fell under multi-departmental administrative authority. After Ms. Yu was retained, she successfully got the case remanded for retrial, securing a judgment that legally compelled the contractor to cooperate with the acceptance inspection.
5.Joint Venture Real Estate Dispute (Guangdong High Court): Represented Huizhou XX Technology Co., Ltd. in a series of joint venture and cooperative real estate development contract disputes against Huizhou XX Real Estate Co., Ltd. handled in the second instance by the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province, with the disputed subject matter exceeding RMB 400 million.
6.Construction Labor Wage Dispute & Social Impact: Represented Dongguan XX Labor Service Company against Zhanjiang XX Construction Company in a complex construction contract dispute. Following three years of intense litigation across multiple judicial levels—involving multiple forensic appraisals, repeated lawsuits, counter-lawsuits, and compulsory enforcement—successfully recovered unpaid wages for hundreds of migrant workers. For her outstanding contributions to maintaining social stability through this case, Ms. Yu was honored with the "Social Stability Maintenance Award" by the Guangzhou Lawyers Association.
7.Financial Lending Dispute (Guangdong High Court): Represented Huizhou XX Industrial Co., Ltd. in a private lending contract dispute against H in the second instance before the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province, involving a disputed amount of RMB 200 million.
8.Cryptocurrency Wealth Management Dispute: Represented the defendant in a discretionary wealth management dispute triggered by losses in Bitcoin investments. By conducting an in-depth analysis of the unique legal attributes of Bitcoin and corresponding regulatory frameworks alongside meticulous financial tracking, successfully convinced the court to dismiss all of the plaintiff's claims.

Criminal defence (partial):

1.Corporate Bribery (Full Dismissal): Defended Guangzhou XX Pharmaceutical Company and related individuals suspected of corporate bribery. Following multiple rounds of robust defense arguments presented to the Procuratorate and the Court, the court fully adopted the lawyer's opinions. The Procuratorate withdrew all charges, resulting in a full acquittal and the immediate release of all defendants.
2.Intentional Murder (Death Penalty Reversal): Represented defendant H in the second-instance defense of an intentional murder case where H had been sentenced to death with immediate execution in the first instance. The Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province adopted Ms. Yu's defense opinions, commuting the sentence to death with a two-year reprieve and granting an exemption from immediate execution.
3.Smuggling of Common Goods (Sentence Reduction): Represented defendant W in a major smuggling case involving common goods valued at over USD 4 million. Following a formal appeal, successfully secured a 4-year sentence reduction from the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province.
4.Multi-Charge Remand for Retrial: Defended defendant Z, who was facing six distinct charges (embezzlement, unlawful detention, illegal collection of unlawful debts, housing/harboring prostitution, illegal flipping of land use rights, and illegal occupation of agricultural land) and had been sentenced to 17 years and 8 months in prison in the first instance. In the second instance, Ms. Yu identified extensive errors in factual findings and legal applications. The appellate court adopted her arguments and remanded the case for an entire retrial.
5.Casino Operations Commuted to Gambling: Defended defendant T in a case involving the crime of opening a casino, which carried a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years. During the review and prosecution stage, the Procuratorate adopted Ms. Yu's defense arguments and altered the charge to the crime of gambling, successfully reducing the client's prison sentence from 5 years to 9 months.
6.Bribery Sentence Reduction: Defended defendant X in a severe bribery case where the initial sentencing recommendation was over 5 years. Utilizing precise timing regarding the promulgation of new statutory provisions and a tailored case strategy, Ms. Yu successfully advocated for the application of the newer legal standards, reducing the client's sentence by 2 years.

International & Cross-Border Legal Affairs (Partial):

1.Insolvent / Supervisory Bribery Defense: Represented a Canadian citizen, L, in a domestic bribery investigation in China. Successfully achieved a favorable non-referral outcome during the Supervisory Committee investigation phase.
2.International Transportation Arbitration: Represented a Russian carrier corporation in a commercial transport contract arbitration against a Chinese enterprise.
3.Cross-Border Manufacturing Arbitration: Represented a Hong Kong enterprise in a contract processing dispute arbitration against a manufacturer based in Foshan.
4.Defamation Litigation: Represented a Norwegian citizen, G, in a reputation/defamation lawsuit against a Chinese citizen.
5.Gift Contract Dispute: Represented an Iranian citizen, M, in a gift contract dispute litigation against a Chinese citizen.
6.Cross-Border Matrimonial Law: Represented various foreign nationals (including Canadian, Iranian, and Hong Kong SAR citizens) in domestic divorce and matrimonial proceedings within China.
7.Inbound Corporate Counsel: Provided routine corporate legal counsel to foreign-invested enterprises operating in China from jurisdictions including Germany, Russia, Spain, Japan, Hong Kong SAR, and Taiwan.

Public Interest & Community Legal Service

1.Juvenile Rehabilitation & Legal Education: Serves as a Legal Education Counselor at the Guangdong Juvenile Reformatory. In January 2026, she delivered a pro bono lecture on the newly amended Public Security Administration Punishment Law for minors preparing for release. In March 2026, she conducted a public welfare seminar on the protection of women's rights for all inmates in the female ward. In June 2026, she recorded a specialized legal course series titled "The Application and Legal Risks of AI" for the institution.
2.Judicial Aid Service: As an active member of the Guangzhou Justice Bureau’s Volunteer Lawyer Service Team, Ms. Yu and her team rotate monthly to provide legal aid. They provide labor law assistance at the Guangzhou Labor and Personnel Dispute Arbitration Institute, serve litigants at the Filing Chamber of the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, counsel administrative dispute parties at the Guangzhou Railway Transport Court, and offer operational compliance guidance to local residents and businesses at the Tianhe District Bureau of Justice.
3.Women's Rights Advocacy: Serves as a pro bono attorney at the Guangdong Women’s Rights Protection and Information Service Center, rotating monthly to provide face-to-face legal consultations and support for the 12338 women's rights hotline.
